Details
Learn to Ride – Adults classes held at East River Park in Manhattan are free for all participants. In order to reserve a bicycle and secure your class spot, registration and a $50 deposit are required (see below for more details). No day-of-class walk-ins will be allowed.
Those who will bring their own bicycle and helmet to an East River Park class should call 212-932-2453 x116 to register with Bike New York’s Bicycle Education Program associate. A credit card number is not required if you will bring your own bike.
Requirements:
All participants must wear a helmet and have a bicycle that fits and is in good working order (i.e., wheels spin freely, brakes function).
Participants who register and provide a credit card number in advance will have access to a Bike New York bicycle and helmet at the class site during their 2-hour lesson.
Students who choose to bring their own helmet and bike must be able to rest their feet flat on the ground while sitting on the bicycle seat. Tires must be inflated and the bike must be in good working order.
For adult classes,
participants must be at least 14 years old. Participants between 14 and 18 years
old must attend with a legal guardian. (Cyclists younger than 14 may take a
Kids class with their parents.)
Schedule:
All Learn to Ride - Adults class dates offer three separate sessions: 9:30-11:30, noon-2:00, and 2:30-4:30. Participants should choose one session upon registration.
We do not recommend registering for more than one session on any given class date. The two-hour session will provide plenty of practice time, and students who require an additional lesson are welcome to register for a second session on a different class date.
Those participants who bring a bike to the class are allowed to stay for as long as they’d like. Please call 212-932-2453 x116 to register and receive more information, though.
